Capital Monitor

Once again, Capital Monitor has successfully delivered a timely parliamentary alerting service to its clients.

The Capital Monitor staff attended the 2008/09 federal budget ‘lock-up’ along with over 550 members of the media and 60 Treasury officers filling 12 committee rooms in Parliament House. Here they previewed the budget and budget measure reports before the rest of the public. Once inside, the team expertly and swiftly dissected the entire budget papers and associated documents, as well as preparing special budget briefing papers on tax, health and ageing, superannuation, family and community services, and the environment.

As 7.30pm approached, Capital Monitor staff made their way to the exit doors ready to join the stampede back to the press gallery offices where the first emails to hit client inboxes began to flow from 7.37pm onwards.

The new budget briefing papers were well received by all, and were a welcome addition to the regular subscription services that Capital Monitor clients have come to rely on.
