Kathryn Viegas is currently a Director of Nomos Pty Ltd, a business specialising in the provision of immigration law advice, advisory services and educational programmes.
Kathryn graduated with degrees in Psychology and Law from The University of New South Wales. She completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Australian National University, and was admitted to practice in 2003. She has been a registered migration agent since 2003. In 2006, she was awarded a Master of Laws degree from The University of Sydney.
Kathryn has worked in community legal centres as well as in boutique immigration law firms. She has worked at the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre in Sydney, after which she co-founded an immigration law firm that she operated from 2005 to 2013. Before joining Nomos Pty Ltd in 2016, Kathryn worked as a Senior Associate at a specialist immigration law firm in Sydney.
Kathryn has extensive experience in dealing with a range of immigration and citizenship law matters, through all stages of the application and appeals processes. Kathryn is the current President of the Management Committee of the Immigration Advice & Rights Centre. She is also a member of the Law Society of NSW, the Law Council of Australia and Australian Lawyers for Human Rights. She has also been a volunteer solicitor at the Immigration Advice & Rights Centre, the Refugee Advice and Casework Service and the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre in Sydney.
